Her final resting place. She finally got her trip to Alaska with her first grandkid that she wanted years before she died. All of my ideas of where I would spread her ashes didn't pan out. It wasn't until the very last day that I finally found a spot that felt good enough, that felt right. I almost wasn’t sure if I was going to find one. Funny I took some of her ashes up into the plane ✈️ to land on a glacier and I thought how cool would it be to do it there. I totally forgot she was in my backpack with me. It wasn’t meant to be. It was quiet and still here. Fish were jumping, and it was breathtakingly beautiful. When you know you know. No one ever talks about what it’s like to spread someone’s ashes. It’s strange. I had already felt so much up until this point that I honestly didn’t feel a thing while I did it. I thought to myself, “how do you do these things?” I shrugged. I spoke a few words to her about where we were and told her I loved her. And within less than 2 minutes it was done. Over. What now? I walked back to the car searching for any emotion or feeling, nothing. Or even a presence. I felt weird, bad almost for not feeling anything. And then it hit me driving away from that spot that it’s done. I’ll never see her again. I almost regretted leaving her there for a moment, so far away from home where she isn’t easy to visit. Slowly as tears fell, peace replaced the sadness and I felt better. It was the right thing to do. I promised her I would. Before I left home to do this, I decided to keep a small amount of her ashes. It was a quick decision I didn’t think I wanted originally. I think I’ll make something with her birthstone in it to remember her by and carry her with me always. Rest in Peace Grandma 🦅 🏔️

Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I have done any branding photos and introduced myself on here. My name is Taylor Marie and I am a photographer based out of Medford, Oregon. It has been a wild 3.5 years in business. My business name @milkandpeonies started with a love and passion for milk baths. They seemed so unique and I was fascinated with them. I wanted to make them sexier. A little about myself, I worked part time as a medical physician's assistant before this as I learned photography and started my business right after Covid hit. I used to model for friends businesses and tried getting into that before becoming a photographer. I love food too much so I traded that in for a camera. 🤭 I hate loud noises and getting my nails filed, it literally makes me break into a sweat. I have two furry children named Goose & Saki and they are spoiled. I love cats. I thought I would have my niche figured out by now, but I am pretty sure the niche is no niche and I don't know if that will ever happen. I have a studio in downtown Medford that I share with two others who I love @debrathorntonphoto and @theangelicaowens. Big things coming for our space soon! My favorite lens of all time will always be the 85mm. My most used right now for portraits is the 50mm. My most used for events the 24-70mm and the 70-200mm. Surrender. Another incredible image from @adamattoun. Truth: I was actually nervous to do this. I was surprised by this unexpected feeling. I shoot underwater, I shouldn't be nervous?! Water can bring up a lot of things. Nothing can prepare you for it, no rationalization in your mind or even awareness of it alone is not enough. The feelings that surface may not even have anything to do with what you are presently doing. Moving in a liquid you can't breath in or hardly even see in let alone hear much AND hold a pose in. But that's the beauty and nature of the magic it reflects. This experience validates my gut feeling that this type of work is much needed in the world and furthers my desire to offer it to others. Life can be hard and make us all feel as ugly as the pain we carry. This is a moment to let go of that and for someone else to show you the magic you are and what truly lives inside of you. Photographed my first eagle. I also couldn't help it with this ridiculous song! 🤭 Eagles are way bigger in person than I even realized! The Tufted Puffin. Argueably the cutest bird I've ever seen. I stopped off at the @oregoncoastaquarium during my solo trip to the coast this weekend and the apiary was my favorite spot. I got there with less than an hour before they closed and I originally didn't think to bring my camera in. I kid you not I literally ran back out to get it after seeing them. I have only seen these little creatures on cereal boxes (iykyk) and t.v. so I was excited. I Iearned that these tiny little birds are fast! This last week was much needed. It’s been awhile since I have camped. I didn’t realize how much I needed to be out of range and unreachable. It’s a different kind of reset unlike any other. The silence of nature with nothing but the birds calling and river rushing. Jumped right back into the frying pan Monday morning as they say. I think I worked from 9:30am and didn’t get home until 11:30pm to catch up after being gone. Worth it. We drove more than 20 hrs on this trip and discovered 4 new places. I am pumped for my annual backpacking trip next! Where’s your favorite place to backpack? Secrets out. The studio got a little glow up. I dreamed of redesigning this room when I first started renting for my boudoir clients. I have been quietly working on this as I have never done this before. It’s been nerve racking to invest in something like this and the extra push of effort on top of your normal load was an eye opener. I have a newfound respect for those that do this for a living. Painting after my work day from 9pm to midnight some nights and researching molding until the wee hours in the morning. Took me 3 years to be able to finally drop in and go for it, but it’s almost done! I found ways to honor my grandmother who passed this year with the gorgeous shell and pearl vintage chandelier. Gold picture frame molding has gone up since this session and more will be happening to the walls with art and wallpaper. Keeping the colors on brand and dreaming up more I can do to the entire space. She’s still in progress like the rest of us. It’s SO luxurious and sexy in there. Finding new joy in transforming spaces and bringing visions to the physical. Burlesque Wedding First wedding of the year and it didn't disappoint! This was one of the most fun and unique weddings I've ever photographed. I have been sitting on posting this wedding since last October. It was a beast to go through and try to narrow down for posting. I really wanted to give it the proper space it deserved. It deserved nothing less than my full attention y'all. Okay so, first off their ceremony was right on the golf course at @roguevalleycountryclub. And you better believe I was 100% blubbering from behind the lens as she walked up tears already streaming down both the bride & grooms faces. I was like a Chihuahua having a hard time breathing. The long awaited grande opening of @josephineinteriors_market happened this last Friday, April 5th at 5pm in Grants Pass, Oregon. Anything this family does turns to gold. Headshot Day in the studio. 6-7 hrs, 15 min. slots, 15-20 people/day for 5 days. @janicemoonartistry is my go to for touch ups and de-shine. She is always more than a stylist. She is their first point of contact, greeter and warms them up before they go in front of the camera. She saves me time in post. Every energy in studio has an effect on your clients experience and the flow of the day. I trust her completely. A quick lint roll and maybe a steam and we are ready to go. I tethered for the day so each person could see what they looked like real time on a big monitor, adjust, and shoot more until they were happy. If you’re not in front of the camera often it’s hard to know how things will translate. Each person got to pick their favorites to go on the website. No surprises! Only you know the things you don’t like when you smile or the way your neck looks in photos. All feelings are valid. These things help me to know how to pose you. Who says bribes are just for kids? Everyone left with a lollipop. 😆 This makes culling done completely by the time the day was over. That look she is giving can light up an entire world. I don’t post or promote family sessions often, but I get asked all the time. It can be hard as you recover from birth to make it outside or to a studio, so I come to you. Multiple generations: grandma, mother, and daughter. First born and second born. I hear from moms all the time how they regret not having this session when it was time. Ways to make it easier to book: book your maternity, birth, and newborn sessions all at once! (P.s. book any type of newborn session within the first 14 days. I don’t do studio style newborn sessions.) Funny story, I assisted on one family session once when I first started and vowed it wasn’t for me and I would never do them. They felt the most intimidating with keeping kids of all ages happy and engaged to get the shot, parents stressed and the sheer amount of energy each mini would take. But now, I just bring all the toys, bribes, and make a fool out of myself. Planning more candid and engaging session filled with play is essential to get those real smiles. There’s two bedrooms and a half bath that are not shown here along with many more gorgeous angles. My favorite aspect of the home is the view of the vineyard from the back deck and the open kitchen, dining room, and living room that are all connected. That leather king bed frame in the master is pretty dope too. Got a spot? Want it shot? How to prep your space for your photographer to come through: -Make sure all light bulbs are working, replace the ones that need it and make sure they are all the same color tone: day, white, or yellow light. -Turn on all lights, fireplaces, open all blinds and curtains. -Make sure to get those wrinkles out of bedding. Throw those pillow and duvet covers in the dryer or hit it with a steamer. -Declutter. The most common areas are the kitchen and bathrooms. - Lastly set your table. Doesn’t hurt! Before I reveal the Airbnb from my last reel check out @cowhornwines new restaurant located in Jacksonville, Oregon. This was a breakfast spot before which looked completely different. I love what they’ve done with the place. Quant yet elevated. Took my boo out for date night here the other day and it was delicious. He got their burger and I got their tagliatelle. I am a sucker for house-made pasta. 10/10 recommend. They serve their very own certified biodynamic wines along with all of their food. Food that’s tastes good and is good for you. You would have been 82 today. Missing you. So grateful I got to see you one last time before you chose to go. I remember getting the text that your lungs were worse than they thought and you didn't have long as I was at the airport. I full on ugly cried in front of everyone. You helped raise me when I was little and would babysit me when my mom would go to work. We spent SO much time together. Little things I'll never forget: You would make me avocado toast and corned beef hash as a snack. You loved saltines and would sit on the floor over the couch in front of the T.V. How when we went garage sailing you'd ask me to ask them the price so they would give us a deal. Every single interaction was an opportunity to witness to someone. Your favorite animal was an eagle. You had a pet dove and goldfish. The way you'd put your arm in front of my little body if you had to brake hard in the car. So many memories. At the hospital I remember when you told me it was time. I was so proud of you and also so sad to know I would never see you again. I realized I had been holding back tears for you so you didn't feel as scared before you had to go until that very moment. I remember telling you how much I loved you. I didn't want to be selfish and make it harder for you knowing how much pain you were in. You were witty and sharp down to the last minute. The nurses said they'd never seen anyone sign their own hospice papers before. I remember watching the chaplain pray over you and how you cried. The energy in the room changed as you dropped into surrender. It's such a strange experience to ask someone what they want at their memorial as they're dying and how they want their ashes spread. Or asking her for any last requests. Her favorite candy was Werther's and her favorite dessert vanilla ice cream. I made sure she got it. I got the honor of washing her hair, rubbing her feet, and even shaving her chin for her. There truly is nothing like the love of a grandma to her grandbabies. Love you grandma. Moody Maternity milk bath boudoir session. A mouthful. We did all the things. And why not? She’s sexy and silly - the best combo. A multifaceted session that ends with a baby moon to prepare mentally, physically, and emotionally before birth. Probably one of my favorite type of sessions. We special ordered white peonies to go in the tub with her. This is one of my top 3 tubs to shoot in the valley. Big, made of pounded copper with black feet, against a backdrop of red brick, and out in the bedroom: perfection. These stop-motion photography videos are also some of my favorite things to make. Stitching all these photos together gives it a vintage vibe of old time video that is symbolic for this historical space. First senior sesh of the year with Wyatt. He’s an old soul. He had never had professional shots done and I felt so honored to be the first one to do that with him. I think it’s key to make the first ever for your kids memorable so moving forward they don’t dread them. Even though it’s been cold and dreary out there we found the golden light. Miss @hannahfrink___ . First session post of 2024. Another senior session at one of my favorite locations. Honestly, I have felt a lot of pressure to post a recap reel of last year and make this first post of 2024 extra special etc. Trends on a macro collective scale always feel a bit underwhelming, forced and inauthentic. The silver lining is the massive support to refocus and stir those unconscious habits back into alignment. I am always going to do my best to keep it real here. I never want someone to look at my account and think she’s got it all together all the time. I am human and this year has been insane. I have never worked so much. It has been lonely at times and my mental health 🗑️. I never thought I would struggle with burn out until I had my first melt down. I have been pushing the limits of what I can handle and I definitely found them. The truth is I love this work! It has given me a life I didn’t know was possible. So, this year I am calling in balance. It will always be a moving target with each season in the year, but the goal is to get better at transitioning from work mode to play mode. And best part of all play harder! Rediscovering hobbies and the things that bring me joy in my personal life and expressing that in my work as well. Maybe humor will show up. I also, want to tell my story more through self-portraits and express that through everything I do. To build out the the studio and explore more of the underwater world. Spontaneous meetings of strangers who change your life, deepening relationships that expand us into our ability to feel and give more unconditional love, and perspectives that open our minds to places we never knew existed. 🥂 Thank you to everyone who has followed my journey, believed in me, liked, shared, referred, booked, etc. I have sent 125 contracts, delivered over 11k edited images, exceeded financial goals I didn’t even make, taught myself a new skill of underwater photography, started a second business, and traveled more than ever in my life. The potential of creative work to live a fulfilling life was so far from the starving artist that was taught to me growing up. It’s hard, but in the best way.

Had the pleasure of working with the @superior.aquatics.swimming coaches and team at @superiorathleticclub last week. So stoked to be getting into this industry of swimming and pools! I stayed out of the pool for this one, but hoping to get in there with them once I can get fully set up with my underwater light system. This is @marcusgentryyy doing the butterfly. He is a beast and an absolute force in the water! He is training for the Olympics. Was an honor to work with him. I could feel the power in the pool as he swam towards me as I shot. Rooting for you man!

Some may disagree, but the more I accepted this (the audio) the more I was able to take responsibility for the work that needed to be done without reactivity. No, I am not talking about hyper independence created by trauma, just good old fashioned discipline. Sometimes the work is figuring out a system that allows for you to NOT burn out and to automate more. Working to live! Not working to work. Getting the support you need to take days off. Still a work in progress for me, but making steps every day. Maybe you made a lot of sacrifices in the beginning of your career, but it's time to know your worth. Experimenting by showing my face more on my wall even if it’s just a time lapse reel of me editing. Crazy eyes over here trudging through this holiday sludge and singing while I do it. To all of you still working hard during this season, hats off. I see you. Feel it all and keep going. You got this. 💋

Santa came to @roguevalleycountryclub this year! And let me tell you he was THE BEST Santa I've ever witnessed. He wasn't the best simply because he looked the part, but how he interacted with the kids sealed the deal. The conversations they had, how he made them feel safe to take pictures even though they were a little nervous, AND they came back and gave him their crafts they made! That says a lot. He even played a little golf with us. 🤭 Hoping they bring @thatsantaguy back next year. And again always a pleasure photographing the gorgeous @alphalit_medford signs. They are a staple for every event now. Hoping your holidays are filled with quality time with those you love and are loved by. And time off from work!

You said yes and I deliver. I actually learned something from trying to recreate the exact same thing I created the first time. I couldn’t recreate it exact. I didn’t screen record the first time I edited the image I posted previously. Using regenerative AI can you recreate the exact same thing? Is that possible? You get the idea and it was close enough, but the thought hadn’t even crossed my mind until this moment. I tried using different captions to get more and more clear so it could figure out what I was asking. The journey continues!

Come clean up this pool with me… Regenerative AI in @photoshop has been saving my booty when it comes to being more efficient with my editing flow. I know I need to update it, ignore that little orange box on the right. Sped this up 20x. It may not look like a ton but the goal is that nothing distracts from the beautiful belle in the middle. The way the fabric flows behind her with the contrast of the shadows behind it and the light reflecting off of it is killer. More and more of you come to me for my detailed eye in session and in post. Stairs? Gone. Tile around the edge? Poof. Vents on the ground? Byeeeeee. Details baby. When I think of the types of things I want to create this next year underwater photography takes the cake. I am dreaming up more big things to take this passion to the next level in 2024 and I can’t wait to share that journey with you. It might be 29 degrees outside as I write this in Oregon and I still can’t wait to get back in the water and create more gorgeous art. It makes me feel the most alive.
